SIDING

Siding is the largest single surface on most buildings and the one people notice first. It also carries the whole job of keeping wind-driven rain out of your walls, which is work that happens invisibly behind the panels you can actually see from the street.

WHAT SITS BEHIND THE PANELS MATTERS MORE THAN THE PANELS.

Siding is a rain screen, not a seal. Water gets behind it during every serious storm, and the house wrap, the flashing, and the drainage plane underneath are what send that water back out again. Install beautiful panels over a compromised barrier and you have hidden the problem rather than solved it.

That is why we strip back, inspect the sheathing, and correct the barrier before anything new goes on. It costs a little more on the estimate and it saves the wall the siding is there to protect.

  • Sheathing inspected once the old siding is off
  • House wrap and flashing corrected properly
  • Window, door, and transition detailing
  • Soffit, fascia, and trim finished to match

SIDING

NEW SIDING SHOULD FIX THE WALL, NOT JUST COVER IT.

Most siding failures we are called to look at are really water management failures. Missing head flashing above a window, house wrap lapped upside down, or a kick-out flashing that was never installed where a roof meets a wall. The panels themselves are usually fine. We correct the underlying details as part of every installation, because a wall that stays dry is what actually determines whether the siding lasts 30 years or 12.

CHOSEN FOR OLDER HOMES AND HARD WINTERS.

Housing across this area ranges from century-old frame construction to newer builds, and each demands different handling. Older walls hide surprises: knob and tube remnants, irregular framing, and sheathing that has softened where gutters overflowed for decades. We plan for those from the start rather than discovering them on day two and calling you with bad news.

EVERY WALL OPENED WITH A PLAN TO SEAL IT RIGHT.

Every siding job is a brief opportunity to see the actual condition of a wall, and that opportunity is wasted more often than not. In 22 years, Tri State All American Roofing and Restoration has replaced a great deal of quietly rotted sheathing that the previous crew simply covered back up. Would you rather know what your walls actually look like underneath, or find out from a buyer's inspector when you sell? We would want to know.

WHAT NEW SIDING DELIVERS

WALLS THAT STAY DRY

You get a functioning drainage plane behind the finish. Water that gets past the panels during a storm exits properly instead of soaking into sheathing and framing.

FAR LESS UPKEEP

Painting cycles disappear. Modern vinyl and fiber cement products hold their finish for decades, which removes one of the more expensive recurring chores from owning a house.

IMPROVED COMFORT INSIDE

Insulated backing and properly sealed transitions cut drafts noticeably. Rooms on the windward side stop feeling colder than the rest of the house through the winter months.

A PROPERTY THAT SHOWS WELL

Nothing changes curb appeal faster than this. Fresh siding, matched trim, and clean lines make a building read as well maintained before anyone reaches the front door.

PESTS KEPT OUTSIDE

Gaps behind failing siding invite wasps, mice, and carpenter ants into the wall cavity. Sealing the envelope properly removes the access they have been using for years.

VALUE THAT HOLDS

Exterior replacement consistently returns well at resale. Buyers price visible condition heavily, and siding is the very first thing they assess from the sidewalk out front.

WHAT WE INSTALL

OUR SIDING WORK

Siding projects range from full replacement to targeted repairs, with the wall assembly behind them getting attention either way. Here is what we install and correct most often on properties across this area.

Person using a drill to install beige vinyl siding on a house exterior at sunset

VINYL SYSTEMS

Vinyl Siding Installation

Modern vinyl offers durable color, insulated backing options, and profiles that suit most homes here. Correct nailing that allows panels to expand is what keeps it from buckling later.

FIBER CEMENT

Fiber Cement Siding

Cement board delivers the look of painted wood with far greater resistance to moisture, insects, and fire. It rewards careful cutting, fastening, and caulking, which is exactly how we install it.

PANEL REPAIRS

Siding Repair and Panel Replacement

Storm damage and isolated cracking rarely justify replacing a whole elevation. We source matching panels wherever possible and repair only the affected area, which keeps the cost proportionate to the problem.

SOFFIT FASCIA

Soffit and Fascia Installation

The eave line takes weather from two directions and carries your attic intake ventilation. We install vented soffit and capped fascia so the roof breathes and the wood stops rotting.

WEATHER BARRIER

House Wrap and Moisture Barriers

Wrap is lapped shingle-style, taped, and integrated with flashing at every opening. Done correctly it is invisible forever; done poorly it funnels water straight into the wall cavity.

TRIM DETAILS

Trim and Accent Work

Corner posts, window surrounds, shakes, and accent panels are what make an exterior look designed. We finish those details rather than treating them as an afterthought at the end.

THE WORD ON OUR WORK

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY.

Siding transforms a property visibly, so our clients tend to have photographs and opinions. What they write about most is the sheathing repair nobody expected and the fact that we showed them before covering it up. Their reviews are below and worth reading.

faq

frequently asked
questions.

Siding questions usually cover lifespan, material comparisons, and whether an existing wall can be covered rather than stripped. Here is what homeowners ask us most.

  • How long does siding typically last?

Vinyl and wood generally run 20 to 40 years, while fiber cement and aluminum often reach 30 to 50. Installation quality and how well the wall drains behind it move those figures considerably.

  • Should I repair my siding or replace all of it?

Isolated cracked panels are a repair. Widespread warping, soft sheathing behind the panels, or the same failures returning repeatedly point clearly toward replacing the affected elevations or the whole exterior.

  • What is the difference between vinyl and fiber cement?

Vinyl costs less, installs faster, and never needs painting. Fiber cement is heavier, more impact resistant, and looks closer to real wood, though it requires periodic repainting over its longer life.

  • Can new siding go over the existing siding?

It is occasionally done and we do not recommend it. Covering hides rot, prevents inspection of the moisture barrier, and traps whatever problem drove you to replace the exterior in the first place.

  • Will new siding lower my energy bills?

Modestly, and considerably more so with insulated backing and properly sealed transitions. Tri State All American Roofing and Restoration also corrects air leakage at openings during installation across Covington, KY.

  • What causes vinyl siding to buckle or warp?

Almost always nails driven too tight, which prevents the panels expanding and contracting with temperature. Reflected heat from nearby low-emissivity windows can also distort panels on one specific wall.

  • How long does a siding project take?

Most homes take three to seven working days depending on size, detail, and any sheathing repairs discovered. Tri State All American Roofing and Restoration gives a realistic schedule up front in Covington, KY.

  • What happens if you find rot behind the old siding?

We stop, photograph it, show you the extent, and price the repair before continuing. Covering damaged sheathing is not something we will do regardless of how it affects the timeline.

HOW WE WORK

FROM FIRST PANEL OFF TO LAST TRIM PIECE, HERE IS HOW.

STEP 01

WE ASSESS

We examine the existing exterior, look for evidence of moisture behind it, and discuss materials, colors, and profiles. The estimate reflects what we realistically expect to find once the old panels come off.

STEP 02

WE STRIP

Old siding is removed rather than covered, and the debris is contained as it comes down. Windows, doors, and landscaping are all protected before the first panel is pulled away from the wall.

STEP 03

WE INSPECT

Every square foot of exposed sheathing is checked for softness, staining, and rot. Anything compromised is photographed, shown to you directly, and replaced before the wall gets closed back up.

STEP 04

WE WRAP

House wrap goes on lapped correctly and taped, with flashing integrated at every window, door, and roof-to-wall junction. This hidden layer is what decides how the wall performs for the next 30 years.

STEP 05

WE INSTALL

Panels are hung to the manufacturer's fastening specification with the movement allowance the material requires. Courses are kept level and consistent so even long walls read perfectly straight from the street.

STEP 06

WE TRIM

Corners, surrounds, soffit, and fascia are finished to match, then the site is cleared completely. We walk the whole exterior with you and correct anything at all you are not happy with.
